CLASSIC MASSAGE MODALITIES
• Classic
Swedish
Our most popular modality, Swedish Massage
uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five
basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage
(kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber)
and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful
in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients
with osteoarthritis of the knee. It has also been shown to be
helpful in individuals with poor circulation. Available in 50
and 80-minute sessions of pure relaxation and enjoyment!

• Deep
Tissue
This modality is aimed at the deeper tissue
structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue.
Deep Tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques
as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense.
It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works
to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as "adhesions.")
Deep Tissue may be a bit more uncomfortable than a classic Swedish
massage. You should always feel free to speak up if the pressure
is too much for you. It's important to drink a lot of water after
a deep tissue massage to help flush lactic acid out of the tissues.
If you don't, you might be sore the next day. Available in
50 and 80-minutes sessions. (top)
• Sports
Sports Massage was originally developed to
help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover
after a big event, or function well during training. Using Swedish
strokes and trigger points, this modality emphasizes prevention
and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons. Sports Massage
is also good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted
range of motion. The therapist generally concentrates on a specific
problem area, such as a sore neck, back or limb. Available
in 50 and 80-minutes sessions. (top)
• Couples
What could be more romantic than a luxurious
massage with your loved one? Enjoy two therapists, candlelight
and soothing music together in our spacious room and select
the same or different modalities (Thai Massage is only unavailable
for couples). Extend the pleasure before or after with a complimentary
steam bath. Available in 50 and 80-minutes sessions. Advisable
to book with 48 hours notice.

EXOTIC MASSAGE
MODALITIES
•
Hot Stones
Heated smooth,
flat stones are placed on key points on the body and rubbed
across the skin for a deliciously, smooth sensation. Since
the heat relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist to work without
using deep pressure, this modality is suited for people who
have muscle tension but prefer a lighter touch. Hot Stones
are especially suited for those who feel cold or have cold
hands or feet. The ultimate indulgence, this modality is available
only in delightful 80-minute sessions. Available in 80-minute
sessions only.(top)
• Thai
Often
called the “lazy man’s yoga,” a Thai session
generally takes place on a large padded mat on the floor.
Therapists use a mix of massage, yoga, acupressure and stretching
to open the body physically and energetically. Unlike other
forms of massage, you wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes
and although you’re relaxed, you’re fully involved
during a treatment, breathing and communicating with the therapist
as they gently contort and knead your body. Thai Massage can
relieve stress, improve immunity, aid digestion, relax tight
muscles, prevent injury and even aid in sleeping. Available
in 80-minute sessions only.

• Reflexology
In Reflexology, the therapist works on
"reflex points" on your feet, hands, and head (especially
ears). The theory behind Reflexology is that these reflex
points relate to specific organs and glands in the body, and
stimulating those points with finger pressure promotes health
in those organs and glands via the body's energetic pathways.
When done by a skilled practitioner, Reflexology is a deeply
relaxing treatment with benefits that can be felt throughout
the body. Naturally, nothing could be better for your aching
feet! Available in 50 and 80-minute sessions.

• Craniosacral
The craniosacral system (cranio means
head and sacral refers to the area at the base of the spine)
includes the brain and spinal cord. They are bathed in a craniosacral
fluid that has a rhythmic pulse, similar to blood pressure.
The craniosacral therapist senses the pulse and looks for
any subtle restrictions in the flow of craniosacral fluid.
Restrictions are believed to be the cause of poor health,
especially conditions related to the brain, spine, and nervous
system. The touch is the lightest of all, with minimal movement,
and you may not even feel like you're being massaged in the
traditional way. Yet this gentle therapy can produce profound
release and realignment in the body. In the end you are thoroughly
relaxed and refreshed! Available in 50 and 80-minute sessions.

• Shiatsu/Acupressure
This modality applies pressure to points
based on the energy meridians, or pathways, throughout the
body's surface. Clients often remark on feeling "energized
and grounded" after Shiatsu massage. (This session can
be undertaken in loose, comfortable clothing.) Available
in 50 and 80-minute sessions. (top)
• Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning universal
life-force. Similar to craniosacral, a Reiki treatment uses
a very gentle touch with minimal movement to balance chakra
energy and relax the body so it can heal itself naturally.
There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can
enjoy a Reiki treatment. The only prerequisite is the desire
for physical, mental, spiritual and emotional wellbeing.
Limited availability; 50 and 80-minute sessions. (top)
• Myofacial
Release
Myofacial Release blends deep compressions
with passive joint movement, helping to free up chronic holding
and pain in the body. The benefit is increased muscle tone
and flexibility. Limited availability; 50 and 80-minute
sessions. (top)
• Sensory
Repatterning
This modality uses gentle rocking, shaking
and cradling to encourage the body to realize its full spatial
awareness and range of motion, retraining the nervous system
to allow greater freedom of movement and grace. Limited availability;
50 and 80-minute sessions. (top)
• Structural
Rebalancing
Designed to help alleviate pain resulting
from repetitive or acute overuse of specific structures (neck,
shoulder, wrist, back, hip, knee, ankle, etc.), Structural
Rebalancing uses the client's body awareness, deep tissue
release and trigger point therapy, to make nagging aches and
pains melt away. Limited availability; 50 and 80-minute
sessions. (top)
